Survey results

  • What did the survey results show?
  • The survey showed that people weren't very impressed with the RSS instruction pages having 55.6% saying the page was not really visually exciting but 53.8% were satisfied with the content. Most of the second page showed that people didn't select any responses whether that was due to not completing the survey properly or not wanting to answer the questions.
69.2% of people thought there could be better contrast with the imagines n the page. This is where my issue with opacity on the parent element was affecting the child element, making the images opaque.

  • Were there any questions that were not effective? Which ones?

  • The responses to the questions were all useful and effective, therefore I feel that all the questions used in our survey were all effective.

  • If you had to develop the survey over again, what would you do differently?

  • Because I noticed that people were missing questions which could and would have affected the results of the survey I feel that next time if i was to create a survey I would make the questions "required". This would mean that if someone missed a question they would be notified and would be prompted to fill out the answer.

  • What do you think are the best things about collaborative writing with wikis? Are there any features which you would avoid in future?

  • I think the best part about using wikis is that you can have more than one person using an account and can interact with each other. Being able to use the whiteboard among several users would be very useful when other workers or colleagues are unable to attend a meeting. They can still help and add ideas by being on the account and the board is being constantly updated. I didn't find any features that I wouldn't use but i suppose that as I use the site more ill find things that I would want to avoid I guess.

  • What are the advantages of online surveys? Are there any disadvantages? Is there information you cannot capture?

  • There are so many advantages of having a survey online. The biggest one is that there is a huge population and range of audience on the Internet so that your survey would have more accurate results. Also if the survey is about a website or something that can be found on the web it is better to have a survey where it directly relates. To be asking people to fill out a hard copy survey that they would need to go out of their way to see the site to be able fill out the survey would just be time consuming and not very appropriate.

I suppose the disadvantage of having a survey online is that task that would be needed to get people to fill out the survey and have it noticed because there are always so many things happening on the Internet.

I personally don't think there is any type of information you cant get on the Internet however I can see how doing a survey with people in a group could still be useful and shouldn't be ruled out as a way to get good feedback.

changes to site

i have made many changes to my site. I decided to get rid of the left side menu and make it apart of the top menu.i changed my colour scheme because it was to over whelming. this is what it looks like now.
some of the problems i have encountered mostly involve the navigation bar and the gallery. with the navigation bar i was having trouble trying to change the colours of the hovers. after nothing was changing after refreshing i decided just to upload it and see what it looked like and noticed that all the changes i had made were working but the browser was jut being lazy and not refreshing properly. I am still unable to fix my problem with my gallery. i went to CSS-Tricks to get my moving box gallery and when i copy the css into my css all of the pages positions in the centre of the window changes and they all end up in the top left of the window. so instead i linked my gallery html to the pre-made css so that all the pages positions would be normal but it still does the same thing to the gallery page as you will see in my screen shots. I tried creating a new container and also renaming the normal container but nothing was working.

My Website

The site i will be creating will be for my soccer club Casuarina because they currently don't have one and were looking into getting one done.
The clubs colours are black and white but our logo has yellow and red in it which i am looking to incorporate into the site here is what my mock up looks like.

test website

In class we have been developing a template for a website. We will be creating a website for a community. I have chosen to create a website for my soccer club Casuarina the Portuguese Timorese club. When starting to create my template I had trouble getting my Navigation bar working with the images i wanted to use but now after fiddling around with it and help from the teacher it is working better. One thing i have noticed is that my site looks significantly different in different browsers such as Safari, Fire wire and Explorer. Safari finds my little mistake and makes sure i can see them because my site looked like a mixed up jigsaw puzzle before the style sheet was fixed. Fire wire ignores most of my mistakes but crops the right side of my site heaps so when i create a site i need to ensure the measurements will fit in this browser. Internet Explore i found is so relaxed with my coding that i couldn't even tell there were large clitches in my work. Now steps i have taken so far for creating a website are working fine i feel i am ready to move onto learning more.

This is what my site looks like so far.

Module 4 & 5

Over the last two weeks for homework we did module four and five from the site http://www.icad2012b.brambling.cdu.edu.au/

In module four I learnt how to write up a html with h1, h2, h3 and body. Also i learnt how to create hyper links to external sites using a href. Module five got me to create a CSS and link it to my html so that i could apply styles to my html. I added styles to each of my headings and my body text.

This was my end result for Module 4 and 5.
